Different manufacturers use different techniques to keep energy consumption low, which means that every mini fridge is a little different. That said, most manufacturers are trying to get Energy Star rated efficiency and most mini-fridges have similar usage rates. Believe me 50l is too small, even with all the shelves removed you can hardly fit anything in. The 85l gives lots more room.
