GWAS, and more recently meta- and “mega” -analysis of GWAS (in which collaborative groups collate data for joint analysis) is a powerful method for detecting genetic associations for complex traits. WebGenome-wide association studies (GWAS) represent an emerging method to identify important genes which modulate human disease. GWAS primarily focus on relationships between SNPs and disease characteristics (traits). Briefly, this method scans the genome for SNPs, and can analyze hundreds or even thousands of SNPs simultaneously.
